Gather Around the Campfire in World of Warcraft: Forever
21 Oct 2026
There is something special about seeing another adventurer on the road. Maybe they are headed toward the same quest objective, recovering after a close fight, or simply taking the long way through a dangerous zone. In World of Warcraft: Forever, the Camping system gives those moments more room to grow by turning a simple Cooking Fire into a place where players can rest, prepare, and connect.
The system expands the Cooking profession’s simple Cooking Fire into a Basic Campfire. Once placed, the Basic Campfire creates a shared campsite where nearby players can rest and gain benefits from profession-made camp features before setting out again. Those reasons to linger can turn a roadside pause into a helpful encounter, a trading opportunity, or the start of new friendships.
Camp Features give professions a more visible role in the world. A Basic Campfire can support up to three special crafted objects contributed by nearby players, with each player able to add one. Each profession brings its own form of utility, such as a blacksmith placing a Sharpening Wheel that increases Strength for an hour, a tailor placing a Faction Banner that increases Spirit, or an herbalist placing an Incense Candle that increases Intellect. These effects are variants of buffs normally provided by specific classes and are exclusive with them.
Players sitting or crafting at a campsite for at least 1 minute will gain the benefits from other camp features. This provides an opportunity to get to know your fellow adventurers, and perhaps embark on a journey together.
How Camping and Profession Camp Features Work
Early in your adventures, a simple quest introduces the Camping system and shows how a campfire can become a useful gathering place for players out in the world. Once a profession reaches skill level 20, you can acquire its first campsite items through starter zone quests or purchase them from a profession trainer. Items that require skill level 140 or higher are found through drops in dungeons and raids.
About Professions
Secondary Professions
You can learn all three secondary professions: Cooking, Fishing, and First Aid.
Primary Professions
You can learn two primary professions. These include the gathering professions Skinning, Mining, and Herbalism, as well as the crafting professions Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Engineering, Leatherworking, and Tailoring.
To learn a profession, visit a trainer in the world or in a major city. To unlearn one, open the Professions tab (K) or select it from the menu bar at the bottom of the screen, then click the “X” next to the profession you want to remove. Profession ranks progress from Apprentice to Journeyman, Expert, and finally Artisan.
The Professions tab also shows available recipes and blueprints, their required materials, and whether crafting an item will increase your skill.
The table below lists a sample of each profession’s camp features, required skill levels, and benefits. All Camping features require a campfire to be nearby and share a cooldown of 1 hour.
Profession Item Skill Level Details Cooking Basic Campfire 1 Builds a Basic Campfire that allows cooking and the placement of up to 3 additional camp features. Players sitting or crafting nearby for 1 minute will gain benefits from other camp features First Aid First Aid Kit 20 Unpacks a First Aid Kit that allows you and others sitting nearby to gain 3-56 increased Stamina (level dependent), exclusive with Power Word: Fortitude. Tailoring Faction Banner 20 Unrolls a Faction Banner that allows you and other members of your faction sitting nearby to gain 14-32 increased Spirit (level dependent), mutually exclusive with Divine Spirit. Cooks can eventually learn upgraded Campfires that allow five or even 10 objects to be placed at a camp, while other professions unlock helpful conveniences such as Alchemy Laboratories and Tanning Racks.
To receive campsite buffs, players need to sit by the campfire briefly and become rested before returning to the road. That pause makes rest, preparation, and community part of the journey, supporting a playstyle built around traveling at your own pace instead of rushing between capital cities and your objectives.
Choose your campsite carefully. Some places in Azeroth are better suited to a quiet rest than others, and danger can still find you when you stop. On a PvP Ruleset, that risk increases when enemy players come upon your camp.
Whether you are repairing gear, preparing your group, or sharing a fire with passing adventurers, Camping offers another way to live in Azeroth—not just move through it. We’ll see you by the campfire!
What it means for twinks
Forever adds a Camping system where a Cooking campfire hosts profession-made camp features that give hour-long buffs, each a variant of a class buff that does not stack with it. Every first-tier feature needs only skill 20 and its values scale with level, so twinks in every bracket can get raid-style buffs without the matching classes.
What changes
- Basic Campfire
- All first-tier camp features need only skill 20 and come from starter zone quests or profession trainers
- Buffs available: Stamina
- Values are level dependent and will sit near the low end of the posted ranges at 19
- All camp features share a 1-hour cooldown
- The same camp features are available at skill 20
- Fishing Bowl gives 8% increased stats
- Tailoring's Faction Banner gives faction-only Spirit
- Camp features give mid-range level-dependent values
- 8% stats and 2% crit buffs are available from Fishing and Skinning at skill 20
- The Spirit buff is exclusive with Divine Spirit
- Camp features give higher level-dependent values
- 8% stats
- Higher-tier camp items that need skill 140+ drop in dungeons and raids
- Camp feature values will be near the top of the posted ranges
- Fishing Bowl gives 8% stats and Camp Chair gives 2% crit
- Dungeon-dropped camp items that require skill 140+ and upgraded campfires
What it could mean, bracket by bracket (our speculation)
Level 19
- The Spirit buff is new below 30, where Divine Spirit is not available, which helps priests and mages with mana between fights.
- Factions and groups without paladins or shamans can now get Kings-like and Strength of Earth-like buffs, which narrows the gap between premade groups and solo queuers.
- Expect twinks to set up camps near battlemasters or inside battleground starting areas before gates open, if placement there is allowed. The post does not say whether the buffs persist into battlegrounds.
- Skill 20 is cheap to reach, so a twink's two primary professions could start to matter for camp features. In practice, most players will probably rely on alts or guildmates.
Level 29
- The 2% crit and the Divine Spirit-like Spirit buff have no normal class source at 29, which adds burst for rogues, hunters, and casters in Warsong Gulch.
- Full camp buffs will likely become standard pre-match preparation for premades, alongside consumables.
- The Enchanted Lute's stats and resistances start to become noticeable, which slightly helps against casters.
Level 39
- Every faction can now get Kings-equivalent and Strength of Earth-equivalent buffs, which reduces faction-specific buff advantages in this bracket.
- The higher Stamina value raises effective health pools and may slow down burst-heavy compositions.
Level 49
- These buffs overlap more with class buffs that 49 premades already bring. The main value is filling gaps in groups that lack a paladin, druid, priest, or shaman.
- Upgraded campfires with 5 or 10 slots, if reachable at this level, would let a single camp give near-raid buff coverage.
- Arathi Basin and Alterac Valley premades may start to plan camp buffs alongside world buffs.
Level 59
- Camp buffs give groups without the matching classes near raid-level buff coverage, which makes buff gaps less important in 59 battlegrounds.
- Because the buffs are exclusive with class buffs, a full premade gains little beyond convenience and the 2% crit if no druid is present.
- Dungeon-dropped camp items may become sought-after drops or Auction House goods for 59 twinks.
